The Act requires corporations to make reasonable efforts to locate and notify owners of their unclaimed property. If the efforts undertaken are not successful, the unclaimed property must be accessible to the public to facilitate its return to the owner. At Canadian Direct Insurance, insurance policy premium refunds or claims payments that were issued after July 1, 2000 and have been returned undelivered or have remained uncashed will be published in an Unclaimed Property Database. The database is provided so that any individual who may make a claim against a property published therein.
Request for unclaimed property
Please present all requests in writing together with supporting documentation including personal identification and proof of insurance with Canadian Direct Insurance. It will take four to six weeks for a request to be processed and a claimant notified of the result.
